FIRST PAW FORWARD LAS VEGAS; GTT 2009

For Give Time Together, Travelocity on Location held its second annual “First Paw Forward” pet adoption expo on May 9, 2009 at Town Square Las Vegas.

This fun-filled afternoon was a truly rewarding experience for our employees. Our volunteers helped walk, feed, and care for some of the most adorable and lovable adoptees. Volunteers were able to form intimate bonds with the needy (and cute!) pets while providing detailed pet bios to the general public and helping facilitate in the adoption process for their four-legged friends. With the support of our 35 volunteers, The Animal Foundation of Las Vegas was able to provide homes to 16 adorable and needy pets!  (more…)

Travelocity on Location, “First Paw Forward”, Give Time Together event recap.

Travelocity on Location, in Las Vegas, had an amazing turn out with its own “First Paw Forward” event. This was a first event of its kind where Travelocity on Location sponsored the entire event. Our goal was to work with local animal shelters and use our event as an adoption event to help some of the Las Vegas Valley homeless animals find a new home and give them a second chance at life. With the kind of turn out we wanted for “First Paw Forward”, we needed to fulfill a couple requirements: High-traffic location, make sure the public was entertained, and make sure our event was publicly known.

Finding a location was our first big challenge; we started contacting the city parks and several private parks with not much luck due to licensing and enormous rental fees. After days of hard searching, a terrific location had been found, “Town Square Las Vegas”, a brand new outdoor mall which had a park and an entertainment area in the center of the mall. This was an absolutely wonderful location to host our event because it was in a very popular area and had really high amount of traffic.

Travelocity on Location jumping on the Give Together boat

What a fun way to spend a Saturday! Travelocity on Location joined together as a team on Saturday September 15th, to donate their time with Opportunity Village, which is a non-profit organization that serves people throughout the Las Vegas community with intellectual disabilities. Opportunity Village is dedicated to helping people with severe intellectual and related disabilities become the very best they can be. Through vocational training, employment, day services, advocacy, arts and social recreation, people with severe disabilities are able to find new friends, realize future career paths, seek independence and community integration and unleash creative passions.
