For this year’s Give Together event, Travelocity’s Sales and Customer Care Team spent the day volunteering at a residential and outpatient treatment center for women and children referred to as the LIGHT program, which is one of many Volunteers of America programs that focuses on a “strengthening family” agenda. TN Americas at Keller Community Storehouse

gt4gt-21

The TN Americas team volunteered at the Keller Community Storehouse on Monday April 26th. We had fun helping in the retail area receiving donations, sorting items, hanging clothes, stocking in the resale shop and the pantry area, doing some yard clean up and some building clean up.

Keller Community Storehouse is located in Keller, Texas. They are dedicated to the well-being and education of the children in our community. They are focused on providing basic needs, helping guarantee success in school and make graduation possible for children in the Keller and Northwest Independent School districts. During times of crisis they intervene to accommodate the needs of children. These needs include but, are not limited to: medical/dental care, eye care, prescriptions, school supplies, food, clothing, shelter, utilities, and counseling.

We also delivered all the donations collected from our hygiene and paper drive that were very well received since they were in desperate need of these items.

Thank you to all the employees at headquarters for all your donations!!!!!!!

A day full of C.A.R.E – Center for Animal Research & Education

tiger1

At first, it sounds like your average GTT events; a wonderful day spent helping the elderly, the young, those with cancer, the abused, those near death, the deaf, the destitute, those in morning and needy in so many other ways.  Yes, we fed the hungry, we listened to those who spoke, we talked to those who’d listen, we cleaned their homes and we played, played, played.  We medicated the sick and we worked to build a lasting memorial for those residents that have passed on.  But no, this day was definitely not your normal day…  It was special beyond words.  We left our comfort zones and spent the day with our newest friends that we will not soon forget; 1 Snow Leopard, 6 Cougars, 6 Black & Spotted Leopards, 3 African Lions, and 39 White and Orange Tigers in Bridgeport, Texas, the home of C.A.R.E.

The Center For Animal Research and Education was founded as a NON-profit organization in 2003 to provide for the rescue, rehabilitation, and holistic nurturing of sick, injured, and abused Big Cats. C.A.R.E. is dedicated to providing these majestic creatures with a safe habitat so they can live with dignity and comfort.  Further, with public education and research, to ultimately ensure the future of the species.  The Center for Animal Research & Education is working to help turn the tide of the abused and abandoned big cat. Founder Heidi Berry and countless volunteers are the driving force behind the Center’s mission. Their tireless devotion to the care and welfare of the great cat family is the foundation on which the Center was built. It is the organization’s staff, volunteers, members and donors who hold the hope and promise for the future welfare of the magnificent creatures that depend on CARE for a safe haven.
