Planting new life in honor of Earth Day!

In Honor of Earth Day, the Pennsylvania Travelocity office kicked off  their Give Time Together week on Saturday, April 24 by volunteering to make a difference by cleaning up Frances Slocum State Park in Dallas, PA.

We were assigned to planting tree detail and we did plant 7 trees!  We had to get the trees in the hole ( no easy task ) and then fertilize them, water them and then build the protective barrier around them to keep out the deer and local kids !  We had 11 employees along with their families come out to make this event lots of fun!  I think the kids worked more than the adults, except for our master sledgehammer man Darrin!  Big shoutout to Lisa Rankin for forcing him to come!

No Soup for you!

The Pennsylvania Travelocity Supervisors and Managers ( plus 2 tag alongs from DFW and SAT ) volunteered at the local soup kitchen, St. Vincent DePauls Kitchen in Wilkes Barre, PA.  We thought we were going to cook but then we showed up and they looked at us and said ” they are not touching the perishables!” so we were sent to the “stockroom” to sort thru the over 2000 cans of food and dry goods.  We helped throw out expired food which was no easy task!  We found some dating back til 1998! EEK!

We had a great time sorting, throwing and dodging some extra stuff that came off the cans too!  Right Kristen? 

A fun time was had by all and we helped clear out some BAD food too!

SPCA Day of Caring

On May 7, 2009, a group of 15 employees from the PENN Call Center volunteered time at the local SPCA shelter in Wilkes-Barre, PA. This effort was undertaken as part of Sabre’s worldwide Give Time Together.

The SPCA was one of 64 United Way project sites throughout the Wyoming Valley, and Travelocity was one of the many area companies that offered their employees to help support their causes.

United Way Day of Caring

On May 7, 2009, the entire staff of Travelocity Global Hotel Operations (GHO) took time out of their busy schedules to volunteer time at Ruth’s Place, a shelter for homeless women in Wilkes-Barre, PA.

This effort was undertaken as part of Sabre’s worldwide Give Time Together initiative. BlackBerrys were put away, calendars were cleared, and e-mails piled up, but in the end the results made it all worthwhile!

Ruth’s place was one of 64 United Way project sites throughout the Wyoming Valley, and Travelocity was one of the many area companies that offered their employees for the United Way’s annual Day of Caring. (more…)

San Antonio Selects its “Give Time Together” Event for 2008 – USA

It’s official,

This year, the San Antonio office of Travelocity will be “adopting a highway”. Great minds came together; Angela Singleton-Vasquez came up with the idea and Robert Kelley made it happen. Robert was instrumental in securing a section of Interstate 10 coming into San Antonio from the east as our “gnome away from home”. The volunteers from the SAT office will be playing in traffic (just kidding) on Saturday, April 26th as part of our Give Time Together campaign. We’ll be cleaning up our section of highway for all to see.

The City of San Antonio will be erecting a sign on the highway identifying the section as being cared for and sponsored by Travelocity. (I wonder if it will look like this?)

As part of our adoption program, we will maintain our section of highway four times a year for the next two years.

We’ll have pictures coming soon of all of the fun the SAT office will have making our part of town look great for everyone to see.
